hcmf 2012

This is the first year that I’m not going to at least a portion of the Huddersfield Contemporary Music Festival since I first went in 2007. I’m sure I’ll go back, probably next year, but meanwhile I’m going to be watching and listening carefully. There are a lot of ways to track what’s happening at this year’s festival, wherever in the world you happen to be.

Here is the program. Many of the descriptions (following the link) include sound or video samples. The pdf/ISSUU version is just below.

Twitter:
@HCMFUK: the official handle for the festival
@mckenzie_gr: Graham McKenzie, the festival director
@majaratkje: Maja Ratkje, this year’s Composer in Residence
@5against4: Simon Cummings, blogging and tweeting quite regularly about the festival

articles:
Opera for Babies in The Guardian
Simon Cummings at the 5:4 blog has been attending the festival and reviewing concerts just about immediately.

radio:
As always, BBC Radio 3 is broadcasting much of the festival. You can listen to the opening concert until Saturday here.
